Meet Livy

Livy Hitchcock is a self-taught, professional pastel artist specializing in portraits, landscape, and genre painting. With nearly 50 years of experience, Livy’s pastel paintings are vivacious, capturing the spirit and wonder of every subject she paints.

During 2021, from May 19 - July 7, I had the opportunity to participate in a solo art show at the Bellamy Mansion Historical Museum in Wilmington, NC.

The gallery below is a representation of my paintings that were featured in the show, which were categorized into four rooms with accompanying themes.

The paintings are now available to purchase in my Shop!

My Lovely Greek Adventure
1976 and 2002

In 1976, Livy and Tom Hitchcock had the opportunity to explore the Greek Islands and the Greek mainland. Some of Livy’s paintings were inspired by the 1976 trip and others by a trip in 2002 when their son David lived in Greece for 2 years.

Room 1

Water and Sky
St. John USVI, North Carolina, and Florida

My inspiration for these paintings was the ocean and skies (and sunrise and sunsets ) in St John USVI, North Carolina and the Florida Keys. The beauty of the energy of water and the ever changing color and light in the sky is a continual inspiration of paintings for me.

Room 2

People and Places
Philippines, Vermont, Seattle, and North Carolina

Tom and I began our marriage in 1969 by joining the Peace Corps and serving in the Philippines. In this room, I have 3 paintings from our time in the Philippines. Many of my paintings are from our time living in Vermont. Now I paint and celebrate North Carolina.
