Welcome!
Having been a professional painter since 1972, my artistic journey spans almost 50 years. I am a self taught artist with experience in watercolors, acrylics, oils, pen and ink and pastels. Currently, my passion lies in pastels. I am a professional portrait artist as well as landscape and genre painter. I have painted and specialize in pastel portraits of people and animals.
My career began in Vermont and then in 2004, my husband and I moved to St John, US Virgin Islands and bought an art gallery ( Bajo el Sol ). Together, we owned Bajo el Sol Gallery from January 2005 until May 2016. We were honored to be owners and with great pride, the gallery blossomed into one of the most respected in the Caribbean. The gallery's mission was founded on the promotion of artists of St John and their artwork. Bajo el Sol Gallery then sold in 2016 to a local couple.
From 2005-2017, I was an Artist in Residence at Caneel Bay Resort on St John, where they displayed a variety of my pieces. Additionally, I taught Pastel painting lessons to the guests. As Hurricane Irma devastated the region, my husband and I stayed in our home, evacuating to Puerto Rico only 11 days later. Having moved to a beautiful apartment in Wilmington, NC, my home serves a duel purpose as my studio.
One of my single most artistic gifts has been to gift portraits of their child to the families of the victims of the 1999 Columbine High School shooting.
